This painting represents the Kurranji meaning, (Cassowary foots prints)
In the rainforests of Far North Queensland they are the older birds in the rainforests.
This painting depicts the cassowary travelling all over the rainforest looking for their mayi, meaning (bush food)
Kurranji move quietly through the rainforest and wade through the shallows of the creeks making them highly secretive and elusive creatures that continue to keep observers intrigued and fascinated.
You can follow his tracks when he is walking around in the rainforest, eating all the bush food inside his stomach and you can follow his droppings that are the making for the new creation of the rainforest.
The cassowary is a very spiritual and cultural entity for Bama (Aboriginal) people on North Queensland, Australia.
By painting these animals and the ancestry that they represent Binna helps to rejuvenate these species for future generations.
